Painless Skin Tightening with the Alma Soprano Laser
Skin remodeling is a biophysical phenomenon that occurs at cellular and molecular levels with the application of optical or thermal energy. The Alma Soprano laser exerts its biological effect on the skin through two major mechanisms: 1) heat-induced collagen shrinkage and micro-thermal injury and; 2) dermis regeneration, repair (wound healing) and remodeling. These non-ablative modalities obviate the need for epidermal injury and promote the reorganization and proliferation of important dermal structures to reverse lax skin.
Cellular contraction involves the initiation of an inflammatory/wound healing sequence that is perpetuated over several weeks using near infrared light to safely heat the dermal tissue, targeting lipids and connective tissue. Following cellular contraction, collagen is laid down as a static supporting matrix in the tightened soft tissue structure. The deposition and subsequent remodeling of this matrix alters the consistency and geometry of soft tissue for aesthetic purposes.
Skin Tightening Candidates
Skin tightening candidates include both younger and older patients who are not surgical candidates or have mild to moderate laxity and do not want surgery. With the Alma Soprano Laser, skin tightening patients can achieve toning, texture and smoothing results without the additional money, pain or downtime associated with surgical intervention. Our laser produces dramatic, yet comfortable deep dermal heating without damage to the epidermis. The most common treatment areas include the face, neck, arms, abdomen, thighs, and buttocks.
Skin tightening with the Alma Soprano Laser requires multiple treatments conducted over a period of time. The number of treatments needed varies by individual and depends upon the desired results. The length of each treatment session also varies depending upon the treatment area, and may last from 15 minutes to one hour. During a treatment session, a laser-emitting hand piece glides over and warms the skin to the medically-indicated temperature for prolonged period of time. Once the session has finished, the patient can leave our office and immediately resume regular activities.
Minimum of 6 treatments for optimal results. Additional time may be suggested for maintenance. Treatment intervals are 1-2 weeks apart. Multiple treatment areas can be performed same day, time permitting.
